these 3 islands for the best chance of seeing
SHARKS
Mola Mola
in
Bali
. Lots of big ocean fish & swirls of reef fish are everywhere. In areas battered by the currents the coral growth is stunted, but still healthy and full of life. In the more sheltered areas the corals can match those of
Nusa Penida
. Majestic underwater rock formations.
Conditions:
Gili Tepekong Gili Mimpang & Gili Biaha
sites are prone to the strongest currents, which can then bring in some chilling water. This can cause temperatures to drop from the usual high 20deg C down to the low 20degs instead. Very often great visibility, with calm conditions in the high tide window.

Bali Topekong Area, Goat Island
Gili Tepekong
A very small island (only about 3000 m2) with 2 or 3 diving sites. Sometime when the current is right, you can explore the whole underwater sites in just 2 dives. The west side offers a slight drop off and some underwater reef structure that is very rich in underwater life. Sharks are quite common. The current is unpredictable and at some point changing directions which may include strong undertow and surge. Some people call this site "the Toilet Bowl " Sunfish are also regular visitors. Water is generally crystal clear with visibility of more than 20m. This area is among the best, yet the most challenging. We usually take more precautions when bringing inexperienced divers when diving here
.
Bali Topekong Area, Mimpang
Gili Mimpang
dive site is just 5 minutes away from Goat Island . It offers similar characteristic to the Goat Island with a specialty of Shark Diving. During 90% of the dives we made here, we saw Sharks at around 18 to 23m, sometimes more than 10 Sharks. There are many Trigger Fishes, and schools of everything, the fish life is exceptionally rich. The current may be tricky, but negotiable. Sunfish are regular visitors especially from July to September. This location is a great place to see something "big".
Bali Gili Biaha
Gili Biaha
A 15 minutes "Jukung" ride from Goat Island to the north. Back roll is usually the best entry method to enter the water. The current is quite wild here; sometimes it can form a whirlpool. Some walls and some slopes with a very healthy reef surround the entire island. The wall is black with abundant soft coral in some area. There are lots of small marine life compared to Mimpang and Goat Island . Sharks are also common, although not as many as at Mimpang.
