The PADI Rescue Diver will expand your knowledge and experience beyond the purely recreational level as you learn to self rescue and to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence and many say that this is the most fun of all the Padi courses.

PADI Divemasters & PADI Rescue Divers reflect on their rescue training as one of the most challenging and rewarding PADI Dive Courses they have undertaken. Although it is a serious subject, the training is fun! Subjects covered include self rescue, diver stress, diving first aid, emergency management, equipment problems and rescue and assistance processes for both conscious and unconscious victims, both underwater and on the surface.

Why PADI Rescue Diver?

Rewarding and fun - that best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

What do I need to start?

As of 2005, you can enroll in the Rescue Diver Course as a certified Open Water Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another training organization) and participate in the Rescue Diver knowledge development and Rescue training sessions, in confined water only, while working on your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

To participate in the Rescue Training sessions in open water, and to participate in the open water rescue scenarios, you must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)

Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR and First Aid program within the past 24 months. The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements.

Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. You'll cover:

• PADI - Self-rescue and diver stress
• PADI EFR AED - and emergency oxygen delivery systems
• PADI EFR dive first aid
• PADI - swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
• PADI emergency management and equipment
• PADI - panicked diver response
• PADI - underwater problems
• PADI - missing diver procedures
• PADI - surfacing the unconscious diver
• PADI - in-water rescue breathing protocols
• PADI - egress (exits) with injured divers
• PADI - first aid procedures for pressure related accidents
• PADI - 4 dive accident scenarios

How long will it take?

• Recommended Course Hours: 25
• Classroom, Pool and Open Ocean sessions over two days but 3 highly recommended.

What will I need?

• PADI Rescue Diver Crew-Pak
• PADI Rescue Diver Video on DVD
• Good Health and a Bit of Stamina
• Ability to Smile and Have Fun Even When Tired(after all, it is diving)
